FAIRFAX, Va. The Filipino American family of a young, rising Australian artist Mike Paxton is proudly promoting his debut album “Dark Woods” here.
Paxton is married to Rachel R. Carter, daughter of Virginia-based Filipina Lenette R. Carter and American Bill Carter. Rachel is an assistant marketing manager of Citi bank and the couple are based in Sydney, Australia.
After 15 years of recording in every studio imaginable, acoustic singer-songwriter, they say Paxton is ready to step out and have his voice heard. His debut EP, “Dark Woods,” was launched last month and features his original compositions—music, lyrics, vocals, piano and guitar were all performed by him.
Paxton started performing in his hometown of Sydney and was chosen as the voice on Sydney sound house Smith & Western’s track “(Come On) Come Inside,” which became the theme song to Network Ten’s drama “Wonderland.” He also performed a cover of the Sixto Rodriguez song “I Wonder,” which appeared in an episode and later on the “Wonderland” album.
Both of Rachel’s parents are retired professionals from the federal government. As expressed in the CD album credits, Paxton attributed to Rachel and her parents the main influences for him to pursue his passion for music and to record his authentic voice through an EP.
Paxton graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Production from the Australian Institute of Music.
Copies of “Dark Wood” is now available at the Manila Oriental Market in Springfield, Va, or through Lenette R. Carter (firstname.lastname@example.org). You can also follow Mike Paxton at MikePaxtonMusic.com, Triplejunearthed, iTunes, and Spotify.
